India's homegrown fighter jet, the Tejas, has taken a significant leap forward with the maiden flight of its upgraded version, the MK1A. The inaugural flight, which took place at the HAL airport in Bengaluru, marks the beginning of a series of tests before 83 of these aircraft are delivered to the Indian Air Force in phases over the coming years. An additional order for 97 aircraft is currently being processed, bringing the total to 180.
