You may remember our 2001 DB7 V12 Vantage, the cheapest Aston Martin in the country at the time. It turned out to be far more of a project than we wanted to take on and look set to become a money pit, so we sold it on and decided to double down on the Aston idea. The result was this, a 1997 DB7 3.2 i6, taken as a part exchange at a local Jaguar dealer. Initially things looked good, with smart bodywork and a far tidier interior than our V12 car, but when editor of Aston Martin Driver Magazine, Paul Walton was stranded following not one, but two breakdowns in it, things looked less rosy…
