On April 12th, 2024. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s (LVMPD) Criminal Apprehension Team (CAT) responded to the 200 block of Callen Falls Avenue in Henderson, Nevada. The suspect became uncooperative and refused to surrender. LVMPD CAT requested the assistance of Henderson Police Department (HPD) to assist and evacuated and sheltered in place nearby residents. They requested Henderson Fire Department (HFD) to stage. They learned the suspect has over 20 high caliber rifles and handguns and was wearing a plate carrier. Officers later on requested the HPD Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) team, Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) as well as the LVMPD All-Hazard Regional Multi-agency Operations and Response (ARMOR) unit. Officers negotiated with the suspect for several hours and used various tactics to attempt to get the suspect to surrender. They later on requested the North Las Vegas Police Department (NLVPD) SWAT team to assist for better containment and to replace the CAT team. They also recycled and called out different HFD units throughout the day. Officers learned the suspect had a gas mask and night vision goggles as well. Officers continued to negotiate and use various tactics to get the suspect to surrender for another 10 hours or so until HPD’s SWAT commander requested a full LVMPD SWAT and CNT response to replace the HPD and NLVPD SWAT team so they can get rest. The LVMPD SWAT team responded and took over and negotiated and used various tactics in effort to get the suspect to surrender for several more hours with no success. HPD SWAT was called back in for assistance and to replace LVMPD SWAT so they can go available and rest. Around 8:45 AM an officer involved shooting occurred with HPD SWAT and the suspect with no injuries. NLVPD, LVMPD, and HPD SWAT continued to recycle so each team can get rest. With no options left they requested a bulldozer to tear off the back of the residence and flooded it with water from a fire hose. In the early morning hours of April 14th the suspect was found dead inside the residence. The investigation is still ongoing as of the time I’m writing this and have no further information.
